Superbridge — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about bridging ETH and ERC20 tokens with Superbridge across the Superchain ecosystem.

Superbridge is a canonical bridge application that allows users to transfer ETH and ERC20 tokens between Ethereum mainnet and Superchain networks such as OP Mainnet, Base, and other OP Stack chains. It uses the native Optimism bridge contracts under the hood, ensuring maximum security and trustlessness. Simply connect your wallet, select source and destination networks, choose your token and amount, then initiate the bridge transaction.

Superbridge supports bridging to and from all major Superchain networks. This includes Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet (Optimism), Base, Zora, Mode, and many other OP Stack-based Layer 2 networks. The list of supported chains continues to grow as new OP Stack chains are deployed. You can check the network selector in the app for the full up-to-date list of supported networks.

Deposits from Ethereum to an L2 network typically take a few minutes — usually between 1 and 5 minutes depending on Ethereum network congestion. Withdrawals from L2 back to Ethereum mainnet take significantly longer due to the Optimism challenge period, which is currently 7 days. This waiting period is a security feature of the native bridge. Once the challenge period ends, you must return to Superbridge to finalize your withdrawal and claim your funds on Ethereum.

Superbridge itself does not charge any bridging fees. You only pay the standard gas fees required to submit transactions on Ethereum and the destination L2 network. Deposits to L2 cost Ethereum L1 gas. Withdrawals involve two transactions: one on L2 (low fee) and one on Ethereum L1 (higher gas). Gas fees vary depending on network congestion at the time of your transaction. Superbridge shows estimated gas costs before you confirm.

Yes. Superbridge uses the official, canonical native bridge contracts deployed by the Optimism Foundation. This means there are no additional trust assumptions or third-party custodians involved. Your funds are secured by the same smart contracts that secure all Superchain assets. Superbridge is a front-end interface that interacts directly with these audited contracts, making it one of the most secure bridging options available for Superchain networks.

Superbridge supports all major Ethereum-compatible wallets including MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, WalletConnect-compatible wallets, Ledger hardware wallets, and many more. The connect wallet dialog will show all supported options. Make sure your wallet is configured for both the source and destination networks before initiating a bridge transaction.

Superbridge supports bridging ETH (native Ether) and a wide range of ERC20 tokens. This includes popular tokens like USDC, USDT, DAI, WBTC, and many others that have been officially bridged and listed on the Superchain token list. You can search for tokens by name or contract address in the token selector. Note that only tokens with canonical bridge representations on the destination chain can be bridged natively.

Withdrawals from L2 to Ethereum go through three steps: First, initiate the withdrawal on L2. Second, wait for the 7-day challenge period to elapse. Third, return to Superbridge and connect your wallet to finalize (claim) the withdrawal on Ethereum. Superbridge tracks the status of your withdrawals and will notify you when action is required. You can also view your pending transactions in the activity section of the app.

Yes, Superbridge is fully responsive and works on mobile devices. You can access it through your mobile browser and connect using mobile wallet apps that support WalletConnect or in-app browsers built into wallets like MetaMask Mobile, Coinbase Wallet, and Rainbow. The interface adapts to smaller screens while maintaining full functionality for depositing and withdrawing across Superchain networks.

If a deposit transaction is pending for longer than expected, it may be due to low gas or Ethereum network congestion. You can speed it up using your wallet's "speed up" feature by resubmitting with a higher gas fee. Deposits pending for more than 15 minutes may indicate the transaction was dropped — check on Etherscan using your transaction hash. If you need help, reach out to the Superbridge team via the official Discord or Twitter channel for support.

Superbridge does not currently have its own native token, and there are no protocol-level fees charged by the Superbridge interface. You pay only the standard Ethereum and L2 network gas fees. The underlying Optimism bridge contracts also do not charge additional fees beyond gas. This makes Superbridge a cost-efficient solution for moving assets between Ethereum and Superchain networks compared to third-party bridge aggregators that may charge a percentage fee.
